Hop on, hop off a Canal Bus is the perfect way of getting around Amsterdam with its wealth of waterways. Walking tour JORDAAN and Courtyard Amsterdam

In the 14th century, almshouses were built to accommodate religious women who did not want to enter into a convent. An almshouse allowed women to live a life between a spiritual life and worldly life in complete rest and among fellow believers. After the Alteration, the municipal government built similar accommodation as homes for the poor. Many courtyards have been preserved, especially in the Jordaan area - the former residential area for labourers west of the chic canals. It has been a very sought-after area for decades owing to the special atmosphere, small specialised shops and atmospheric cafes.

This tour takes you first to Naarden. This delightful fortified town has miraculously been preserved, despite the fact that many bloody sieges took place here. We continue our drive on to the ¢Gooi`, also known as the garden of Amsterdam. The scenery and route is lovely as we pass through centuries old polders to reach the lake district of Loosdrecht. At Loosdrecht we can stop for a cup of coffee and a slice of Dutch apple pie.The tour carries on along the tranquil river Vecht, famous for its castles and mansions from the 17th and 18th century.

This tour shows the beautiful province in the south of Holland.This excursion will take you to Delft, one of the best-preserved old Dutch cities from the 17th century. Here, you will visit an earthenware factory, where craftsmen crest the beautiful Delftware. Then on to Rotterdam, with world's largest harbour. After a tour of The Hague with its government buildings and Peace Palace, You will visit the famous Mauritshuis Museum before returning back to Amsterdam.

Alkmaar, city of Cheese & Medieval town of Edam 

Departure at 09h00, duration 3,5 hours

In historical Alkmaar you will be given an insight into old Dutch market life. At the cheese market, with the cheese carriers in their historical costumes, you can get a real sense of ancient market life.
Watch as the cheeses are piled high on the cobblestone square at Alkmaar Market. Learn about the old Dutch market way of life, where bidders traditionally compete by clapping their hands and with a stern clap the deal is sealed. Once a buyer has finished, men in white uniforms carry the wheels of cheese to a 14th century Weigh House to tally the bill. After the visit to the cheese market drive to the village Schermerhorn with its famous old windmills.  On the way back to Amsterdam travel via the medieval town of Edam to visit a cheese factory where the cheese is still made the traditional way and you will enjoy the opportunity to taste the famous Dutch cheeses.
